Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I setup an appointment?
A: I’d prefer to speak with you on the phone, but you are more than welcomed to call or email. All communication I have with you is confidential, regardless if you become a client or not. I can be reached at (615) 656-4430. To send an email, click here.

Q: What should I expect at my first appointment?
A: Come 15 minutes early to ensure that you have time to fill out and read over any necessary paperwork. At the beginning of our session, I’ll ask why it is that you’re seeking therapy and we can explore together what some goals might be for you. We’ll discuss the nature of how our time together will be organized for future appointments, go over any questions you have, and talk about the duration of your time here.

Q: How long will therapy last?
A: The best way I can answer this is that you and I will decide this together.

Q: Why should I come see you, or any therapist?
A: In short, because life isn’t working for you. It might be a relationship gone bad, a job change, or something else that has caused you to question life. Or you might want to see a therapist because you are experiencing grief, anxiety, or depression. Therapy is a gateway to engaging your story and heart, and through therapy you and I can explore a renewed understanding of how and why you are the way you are.

Q: I’ve been in therapy/counseling before, and it didn’t work? What’s different about you?
A: My clients repeatedly tell me that they are very comfortable and encouraged during our sessions together as we discuss issues of life. I think you will find my approach to therapy comfortable and moving to facilitate change in your life.

Q: What do you charge?
A: Individual and sessions are $100 per hour.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: I do not, but I can give you a dated receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Sometimes insurance companies will ask for diagnostic codes to process your reimbursement. I do not provide this information for you or your insurance.

Q: How do I pay?
A: You can pay at the time of your appointment in cash or check, or you can pay in advance by credit card by clicking here.
