We can be more receptive to hearing critical feedback if we feel secure, valued, cared about, and loved. If you hope for the best in and for me, you can say a whole lot to me, including critical thoughts.\u00a0<br><br>Tips for giving critical feedback:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ask for permission to share. \u201cAre you open to me giving you some feedback about the situation?&#8221; If the answer is no, &#8220;will you let me know when you are ready?&#8221; Give it 24 hours, and ask permission again.<\/li><li>Tell them what you hope for in sharing the feedback. \u201cI hope we can avoid this particular pitfall in the future.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><li>Be on their team. \u201cHere is what I want for us.\u201d Rather than \u201cyou need to do &#8216;this and\/or that&#8217;.&#8221;<\/li><li>Ladle it with kindness. Don\u2019t feel kindness towards the other person? Don\u2019t share the feedback.\u00a0<\/li><li>After sharing, ask for feedback about how you gave your feedback. \u201cDid you feel like I was on your team?\u201d \u201cHow could I have said this better to help you not feel attacked?&#8221;<br><br><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying to enact change in relationships takes a lot of time, consistency, grace, and love.
